Position Overview
The Jewish Education Teaching Assistant works alongside experienced lead teachers and is responsible for assisting the lead teachers in teaching Jewish Education curriculum and may be asked to work 1:1 or with small groups of students. In addition, the TA assists with supporting the lead JE teacher and students with providing feedback to students, managing a positive and productive learning environment, and preparing instructional materials. The TA also works closely with other Staffulty members to support and supervise students as they transition between classes and activities, during recess and lunch periods, and at other non-academic times. The TA participates in the school community including collaborating with other teachers on interdisciplinary projects, participating in Staffulty meetings and professional development. This is a non-exempt position, either full-time or part-time.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist lead Jewish Education teachers with implementation of Jewish Education curriculum, assessment, and positive student engagement in the classroom, on-campus, and during off-campus activities and experiential learning opportunities, i.e. field trips.
- Utilize appropriate instructional materials and techniques as guided by the Jewish Education lead teacher(s) or learning specialist(s) to differentiate for multiple learning needs
- Collaborate and implement lesson plans as designated by lead Jewish Education teacher(s)
- Assist in student accountability and curricular completion, including helping to track student progress and completion of assignments
- Attend TA Staffulty meetings, in-services, professional development, and all other required meetings
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor, working cooperatively with multi-disciplinary teams to serve a diverse student population
- Supervise students during recess, lunch, and other specified non-teaching times
- Complete additional tasks in support of Sinai Akiba’s mission, as directed by the Jewish Education Director, Director of Student Life & Experiential Learning, and/or Head of School
SCHEDULE OPPORTUNITIES
- Full-time hours are M-F 9:15 AM - 3:45 PM
- Part-time hours are M-F 9:15 AM - 1:15 PM
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (teaching credential preferred)
- A love of elementary school students is a must
- Prior experience working with school aged children
- Proficiency with Google Suite (Google Calendar, Google Docs) and adept computer skills
- Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing Hebrew required
- Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing English required
- Ability to positively collaborate with partner teachers and colleagues
- Ability to engage professionally and positively with colleagues, students and families
- Commitment to professional growth and continuous learning
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Hourly Rate Range: $21.00 - $30.00

In the spirit of pay transparency we share the hourly rate range for this position: $21.00 - $30.00. The hourly rate range is exclusive of fringe benefits, retirement plan employer contributions or potential stipends (for eligible employees). Pay ranges at SAA are reasonable estimates of what the School anticipates paying for a role but are not guaranteed. If hired at SAA, your final hourly rate will be determined by factors such as skills, education, experience, job level, part-time status and number of months of work per academic year. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity with our current employees as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full hourly rate range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical for SAA in order to allow for future and continued compensation growth.
