Summary Description of Position
Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Community Engagement, this position is responsible for leading and executing Jewish Federation Los Angeles’ initiatives related to Israel education and advocacy.
Principal Duties
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for Federation’s education and Israel advocacy efforts.
- Oversee key programs including the Holy Land Democracy Project, Campus Impact Network, Ethnic Studies Initiatives, and its staff.
- Ensure alignment of goals with organizational objectives and community needs.
- Collaborate and communicate with internal departments across Federation.
- Envision and implement effective educational programs that inform and educate stakeholders about the Jewish community, as well as Israel's history, culture, and current events.
- Provide subject matter expertise and create messaging on topics regarding Israel and antisemitism for internal and external audiences.
- Represent JFEDLA in public forums promoting Federation initiatives and subject matter expertise.
- Create and implement program evaluations to measure impact and effectiveness.
- Supervise and manage a team of professionals who support JFEDLA’s education and advocacy efforts.
- Cultivate and engage lay leadership as needed.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key constituents including non-profit organizations, government officials, community members, and private sector entities.
- Organize and lead immersive experiences to Israel to strengthen work in the education field.
- Participate in Federation-wide initiatives and community engagement efforts related to departmental goals.
Additional Duties
Be available to supervisor for additional assignments, as required, including assisting with the Campaign.
Education & Experience Required For Position
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Jewish education, Jewish communal service, non-profit management, Israel Education and Middle Eastern studies, or public policy preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Jewish Federation system or Jewish communal field required.
- Knowledge of Judaism and expertise in Israel and Middle East geo-politics required.
- Experience in program planning, advocacy, and budget administration required.
- Strong initiative, responsiveness and ability to work collaboratively.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
- Some proficiency in Hebrew preferred
- A hybrid work model will be implemented for certain positions. This position must report to worksite on non-remote workdays
