Camp Barney Medintz is the summer overnight camp of the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta. It is located on 540 beautiful acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains, just 75 miles N.E. of Atlanta.  “Camp Barney” serves over 1250 children, ages 7-16, and 400 staff from coast to coast each summer, since 1963. 

We offer every imaginable activity including:  water skiing, swimming, “the blob”, paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, tennis, mountain biking, horseback riding, all sports, ropes courses, backpacking, campcraft, theater, music, dance, crafts, videography, journalism, radio, and much more. 

We are seeking an Arts and Crafts Director who loves working with children, is an effective team leader and supervisor (this position supervises 9-12 staff members), has a strong creative streak, and possesses a desire to inspire and excite campers. This is an amazing opportunity in an incredibly beautiful environment.   

Role and Responsibilities 

  • Coordinate and supervise operations of Arts and Crafts program 
  • Develop and deliver an Arts and Crafts program that is appropriate for the age and ability of the 

campers 

  • Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in the Arts and 

Crafts program area  

  • Supervise, assess, and schedule a team of 9 – 12 Arts and Crafts Specialists 
  • Be a positive role model and develop positive relationships with campers and staff 
  • Organize and develop staff training and in-service programs 
  • Develop creative programs with lasting value for campers 
  • Assist in planning and execution of camp wide programming 
  • Work as a member of a community with a strong emphasis on Jewish values. 

Qualifications and Education Requirements 

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working with children 
  • Management experience 
  • Innovative and creative 
  • College graduate or currently enrolled 
  • At least 21 years of age preferred
