JCRC Bay Area is seeking a Managing Director to lead community relations strategy across the nine-county Bay Area. This role is a key leadership position and the deputy to the CEO, overseeing teams in government affairs, civic partnerships, Jewish engagement, and education to advance JCRC’s mission of building a just future where Jewish identity is embraced, and all people can thrive.
Position Overview
Reporting to the CEO, the Managing Director will manage a talented team of 11 professionals working on critical community relations initiatives. This leader will be instrumental in driving impactful change, strengthening partnerships, and serving as a voice for the community on local and national issues. As a member of the Executive Team, the Managing Director will collaborate on strategic planning, fundraising, and shaping the future direction of JCRC.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspire & Lead a Team: Manage and develop a team of 11 professionals working on critical community relations initiatives. Cultivate a high-performance culture with a commitment to growth, development, and collaboration.
- Drive Impactful Change: Strengthen relationships with elected officials, civic leaders, and Jewish institutions to combat antisemitism, advance social justice, and build coalitions.
- Be a Voice for the Community: Represent JCRC at the highest levels, engaging with media, policymakers, and thought leaders to amplify the organization’s mission and goals.
- Shape the Organization’s Future: Serve as a member of JCRC’s Executive Team, collaborating on strategic planning, fundraising, and organizational leadership to ensure the continued success and sustainability of the organization.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years in leadership roles including staff supervision, program development/management and team building in a nonprofit or governmental context
- Experience developing and leading high performing teams with a focus on setting and achieving strategic goals and objectives in line with budgetary requirements.
- Proven experience in community leadership, advocacy, coalition-building, and public affairs.
- Public relations experience with the ability to engage a broad range of audiences and constituents. Experience managing marketing and communications strategies, preferred.
- A deep passion for Jewish life, civic engagement, and strengthening ties between diverse communities.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to drive impactful change.
- Knowledge of the Jewish communal landscape and experience working with Jewish organizations is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
