Dor Hadash, the religious school for the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue & T'chiyah, both of Detroit, is seeking part-time religious school teachers for the 5785 school year.
SEEKING: (3) Judaic Studies teachers & (2) Beginner's Hebrew teachers
Applicants should have the following qualifications:
-A love of working with young children
-Excellent time management & experience with classroom management
-Familiarity with creating/writing lesson plans, or editing existing lesson plans
-Background in Jewish Studies, or experience teaching Sunday school preferable*
-Some Hebrew skills, fluency not necessary
-Comfortability with a diverse, pluralistic Jewish community
-Must be fun, vibrant, & invested in facilitating dynamic, hands-on experiential learning
*First time teachers should still apply! Great way to get experience teaching!
Dor Hadash serves the Detroit Jewish community by instilling a love of Judaism and the Jewish people in children from ages 4-years through 5th grade (10 years). We meet twice per month, typically on Sunday morning, and the program focuses on a Jewish Values curriculum to best serve our deeply diverse Jewish community. We priotize hands-on and experiential learning.
Teachers should be comfortable directing creative projects, playing games, and singing songs. Throughout the year, we also have several sessions planned for off-site programs with partnership organizations and weekday evening adventures. Teachers should make themselves available for those as well, if possible. Teachers should have open availability on Sunday mornings from 9am to 12pm.
