Congregation Beth Am (CBA), a vibrant Conservative Jewish synagogue in San Diego, is seeking an energetic and passionate leader to serve as our Director of Youth Engagement. Your Role: Creating Jewish Experiences
As the Director of Youth Engagement, you’ll design and lead innovative programs that connect youth to their Jewish identity, their peers, and the broader community. You’ll foster a welcoming, fun, and inclusive environment, empowering young people to take pride in their Judaism.
What You’ll Do:
? Program Development & Leadership:
- Plan and execute monthly and seasonal events tailored for different age groups (K-12).
- Enhance Hebrew school & Hebrew High experiences through interactive programming.
- Oversee children’s High Holiday programs & youth retreats.
- Connect CBA youth with local, national, and international Jewish opportunities.
? Community & Relationship Building:
- Build strong, meaningful relationships with youth and families.
- Encourage youth leadership and mentorship opportunities.
- Partner with other Jewish organizations to create collaborative programs.
? Leadership & Volunteer Coordination:
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers and youth advisors.
- Lead and organize a Parent Committee to support youth initiatives.
? Outreach & Communication:
- Promote events and programs in partnership with the Director of Communications.
- Engage families through effective marketing and outreach.
? Administrative & Management Responsibilities:
- Oversee budgeting, hiring, payroll, and program logistics.
- Ensure safety and security of all youth programs.
- Collaborate with senior staff on synagogue-wide initiatives.
What We’re Looking For:
? Passion for Youth Engagement – You’re excited to mentor, inspire, and connect with young people.
? Jewish Knowledge & Experience – Strong familiarity with Jewish traditions, holidays, and community life.
? Leadership Experience – At least 7-10 years of experience in youth programming or Jewish communal work.
? Education Background – Bachelor’s degree in Education, Jewish Studies, Social Work, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
? Strong Communication & Organizational Skills – You can plan events, manage volunteers, and engage families.
? Flexibility – Willingness to work some evenings, weekends, and Jewish holidays.
