Manager of Community Research

The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore is seeking a full-time Manager of Community Research to join our team. The Manager of Community Research will lead the Associated’s research efforts to grow the capacity for data collection and analysis for continuous alignment of service delivery with community needs.   

Organization Overview

The Associated is recognized as one of the top Jewish community organizations in North America and a national leader within the Jewish Federation system. The Associated ensures the delivery of community services to the Baltimore Jewish community, the people of Israel, and Jewish communities around the world. The Associated meets our community’s needs by leading a network of nonprofits.  It spearheads initiatives to provide community security, fight antisemitism, deliver essential humanitarian services, create meaningful Jewish engagement opportunities and connect Jewish Baltimore with Israel, Jewish communities around the world and the greater Baltimore community.

The Associated’s Annual Campaign is the central vehicle for all the organization’s beneficiary agencies and programs, supplemented by fundraising efforts for strategic projects. The Associated’s annual budget is approximately $50 million. With a staff of over 100 full-time employees, The Associated has stayed true to its promise of serving the Baltimore community with urgency, excellence, compassion, and a commitment to Jewish values.

Position Overview

The Manager of Community Research will lead the design and management of research efforts including analysis and use of data to improve programs and services and to strengthen funding proposals and reports. As The Associated works to deepen our data culture, the Manager will play a key role in these initiatives. The Manager of Community Research will also work closely with The Associated’s network of nonprofits to develop efficient ways to collect and analyze system-wide data.

What you will do

  • Analyze existing communal data to glean insights about strategies, impact, and possible service gaps
  • Identify information needed to understand community challenges and aid in the development of solutions
  • Develop research initiatives that inform The Associated’s funding and planning decisions
  • Advance systems for efficient data collection
  • Ensure meaningful analysis that incorporates new research with existing data sets
  • Deepen a culture of data-informed decision making
  • Design and systematize the use of data to set goals and measure impact of programs and services
  • Analyze, visualize and communicate data efficiently and effectively
  • Serve as a thought partner to colleagues and lay leaders to gain actionable insights from data

 

What you have

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Three to five years’ related work experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Successful experience developing research plans and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data
  • Ability to synthesize data and information from multiple sources to provide insights and learning
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency with technology to automate data collection efforts and to visualize data in compelling ways
  • Excellent organizational skills with a track record of effective project management and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to present data and research findings in an accessible format for people with varying levels of research experience
  • Ability to both work independently and collaborate in a team setting
  • Excellent relational skills
  • Prior knowledge of the Jewish communal landscape is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:  

Salary range is: $70,000 - $77,000 commensurate with experience.

Work Location - Hybrid office/remote with in-person requirement of two days per week.
