Position Overview

PBJC seeks a dependable, energetic person with a passion for teaching in our Religious School. We have openings in several grades, including Hebrew and Judaic studies. This position is for the 2025-2026 school year, Tuesdays from 4pm-6pm and Sundays from 9am-11:15am.  The salary is based on experience.  

 Qualifications

  • Experience teaching or working with children between the ages of 4 and 13 in a group setting.
  • Familiarity with Hebrew that is sufficient to teach beginning Hebrew readers to decode the language of blessings and common Hebrew words.
  • Acts as a team player and works well with other teachers.
  • Ability to communicate via email and phone with parents.
  • Strong classroom management skills. 

Responsibilities

The teacher will be expected to:

  • Support students in forming their own Jewish identities. Work with students to explore aspects of Judaism. Work with co-teachers and the Religious School Director to track student progress and needs. Develop individualized approaches to support each child’s learning.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers and the Director to teach and supervise children when the whole group is together.
  • Plan and teach lessons on specific subjects the Religious School Director defines.
  • Lead engaging and interactive activities that promote student growth and development.
  • Communicate with parents directly about each student’s progress and needs.
