Position: Director of Member Engagement 

Reports to: Executive Director 

Main Line Reform Temple-Beth Elohim (MLRT) is a vibrant Reform Jewish community with over 900 families. Our vision, "Be Inspired, Be Connected, Belong," guides us. Objective:

The Director of Member Engagement should bring their creativity, leadership & collaboration skills, and experience to manage MLRT's member experience. This includes managing annual MLRT marquee events while introducing new and innovative events. The Director will analyze member activities and refine our offerings in partnership with the clergy, Executive Director, and the Board. The Director of Member Engagement will manage marketing staff and guide the communications strategy and priorities for member communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships with members, increase member involvement based on interests/strengths; cultivate future leaders (relational engagement)
    • Create efforts to recruit, retain and engage all members
    • Build member relationships and foster involvement while identifying potential future leaders
    • Support efforts to recruit, retain, and meaningfully engage members.
    • Develop outreach strategies and manage membership inquiries
    • Conduct exit interviews of members when possible.
  • Strategize on meaningful outreach to our various cohorts
    • Create and implement on-boarding program for new members
    • Define our member demographics and create a strategy to engage each of these groups through meaningful experiences
    • Foster a sense of belonging and connection among members through communications, personal outreach and community-building activities
  • Interface with all key affinity groups (Sisterhood, Brotherhood, Tikkun Olam) to collaborate on membership opportunities
  • Oversee all marketing efforts related to membership and events; manage marketing resources and those who are responsible for creating marketing & membership materials and managing social media
  • Oversee the annual calendar planning to ensure that priority events are scheduled and activities are spread evenly throughout the year
  • Spearhead all aspects of the membership renewal process and new member stewardship
  • Oversee all High Holy Days communication, on-site welcoming, preparation of front-office to anticipate member outreach/questions
    • Develop, coordinate, and oversee annual High Holy Day communication to Temple membership
      • Prepare FAQs and review reference documents with Office Administrative staff who field frequent HHD phone calls.
  • Serve as staff for membership committee and other key committees
  • Research and collaborate with other synagogue engagement leaders to learn best practices and understand what aligns with MLRT; participate in PEP-RJ.
  • On-site management of events, collaboration with maintenance, recruiting volunteers and committee members to assist
    • Coordinate onsite membership events working with appropriate MLRT staff, volunteer members, and outside vendors
    • Develop meaningful programming and engagement opportunities for cohorts with similar interests to connect and build relationships with one another.

 

Skills/Experience: ShulCloud, attention to detail, collaboration, strong interpersonal skills, 3+ years of experience working in Membership, Engagement, Marketing or relevant work experience. This is an in-person position located in Wynnewood, PA.
