About CEC

Congregation Etz Chaim, a Jewish community in Lombard, Illinois, is the center of Reform Jewish life in the western suburbs of Chicago. We are home to more than 500 households who gather to pray, learn, and support one another and the larger community. Overview

The purpose and objective of the Program and Communication Associate is to support the Executive Director, who oversees the overall marketing, communication, membership, and operations. We use ShulCloud (CRM & CMS), Canva, and Google and Microsoft applications. This role includes the opportunity to work and assist the volunteer leadership, staff, and clergy in fulfilling the Temple's programming, education, spiritual, and ritual needs. This position requires a high level of confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Communications: Maintain and promote the congregation programming calendar via email, website, photos, social media, and print material. Prepare and strategize the program & communication calendar and ensure consistency across content and maintain brand consistency. Provide high editorial standards for all public materials. Maintain and update online and physical membership materials as well as other branded items.

Technology: Operate and maintain a wide variety of office equipment including computers, copiers and printers, and assist with tech and AV setups as needed. Provide technical support to congregants with ShulCloud (Member Portal).

Operations & Events: This role requires attending and supporting in-person and online events and programs as needed. Support community-wide in-person and remote programming over the course of the year including but not limited to scheduling, room reservations, making nametags, etc. Includes the scheduling of the streaming service, babysitting, and kitchen staff/building supervisors. Constant communication is required with lay leadership to ensure all communication and events are properly promoted and prepared. Arrange sponsorships with Ways & Means and Executive Director to fill all available spots.

General Admin: Manage communication channels (phone, email, in person) and other duties as assigned.

Skills Needed

Strong knowledge of Jewish culture and customs, high proficiency in computer software (Canva, Microsoft Office, Zoom, CRM), the ability to deal positively, proactively, and empathically with congregants of all ages, including young children, and willingness to learn new tools to help us communicate, improve efficiency, and move forward in our mission.

Traditional office hours includes (flexibility to work remotely)

Monday: 9:30am-4:00pm

Tuesday: 9:30am-4:00pm

Wednesday 9:30am-4:00pm

Thursday: 9:30am-4:00pm

Friday 9:30am-1:00pm 

Compensation

This position’s time commitment and financial structure will be adapted for the desired candidate. This position may work 20-29 hours (part-time hourly) or 30-40 hours (full-time hourly or salary) per week. The range of compensation is listed annualized, between $37,100-$49,350 commensurate with experience and qualifications and the final number of hours agreed upon. Membership and all of its benefits are complementary for working at Congregation Etz Chaim. Full-time employees are eligible for health and dental insurance benefits. Per the State of Illinois law, this position receives one hour of paid time off for every forty hours worked, as outlined in the Employee Manual. The Congregation and its employees and contractors have at-will relationships; meaning either party may dissolve the relationship at any time, with or without cause, and with or without prior notice.
