Mersky, Jaffe & Associates, a national executive search and consulting firm, has been engaged to conduct a search for the next Major Gifts Officer (MGO) of the American Friends of Leket Israel, Israel’s National Food Bank, located in Teaneck, New Jersey.
This is a hybrid position.
ABOUT US
American Friends of Leket Israel (AFOLI) supports the critical work of Leket Israel: Israel’s National Food Bank and largest food rescue organization. AFOLI is seeking a New York Metropolitan based MGO to work with senior staff and other colleagues to significantly expand upon and complement the organization’s presence. The MGO will maintain a major gifts portfolio in the New York Metropolitan area and also focus on major gift fundraising on the West Coast, periodically undertaking travel to develop and maintain prospects and donors in that region.
POSITION OVERVIEW
AFOLI seeks an experienced, passionate, and creative ideas-driven Major Gifts Officer. This is a full-time position, reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with both staff and leadership.
The MGO is directly responsible for cultivating and soliciting major gifts, with a focus on bringing in new donors to the organization, by devising and implementing strategies to acquire, renew, steward, and upgrade major gifts.
The salary range is $160,000 - $175,000 with a comprehensive benefits package.
The successful candidate will have the following key responsibilities:
- With senior staff, develop and implement major gifts campaign plan.
- Work with senior staff, lay leadership and board to identify prospects, increase the number of donors and deepen donor engagement.
- Prepare and execute individualized plans to identify, cultivate, solicit, secure and steward major gift prospects and donors.
- Build a robust donor prospect pipeline.
- Develop and execute strategies to increase giving among current donors and reengage lapsed donors.
- Prepare donor presentations, impact reports and proposals.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings
- Identify and nurture prospective and current donors as potential Board members, Committee members and parlor meeting hosts
The Successful candidate will be/have:
- Committed to food justice.
- A minimum of five years’ experience with demonstrated success in major gifts fundraising.
- Knowledge and understanding of the key players, institutions, philanthropic culture and giving trends in the New York Metropolitan area and the West Coast with a track record of fundraising success.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically about moving individuals across the spectrum of prospect development, culminating in high-level solicitations of five figure and above gifts.
- Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships, excite, motivate and solicit prospects and existing donors.
- Written and oral communication skills in making persuasive and compelling presentations of Leket’s mission.
- Ability to communicate effectively with volunteers and staff.
- High level analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Proficient in computer and software knowledge with experience in donor databases.
- Self-motivated and self-directed to work both independently and as a team member.
