Community Calls, an initiative of Kaplen JCC, is committed to bringing people together from various backgrounds in social, educational and action-oriented engagement opportunities. It is currently a coalition of over 25 faith-based and community-based organizations (and growing) who work together to strengthen relationships, disrupt tensions, and advance change in our community. Community Calls celebrates and amplifies the work of each organization inviting a wider group to participate. And, it creates complementary programming to engage the wider community on topics of shared interest and opportunities to engage interpersonally beyond one’s own group.
POSITION OVERVIEW
In its second year, with support from the Russell Berrie Foundation and Kaplen JCC, Community Calls is growing its team, its presence, and its programming. The role of Program Assistant for Community Calls is the first expansion of the team and this person will be coming on board at a pivotal time in the growth and opportunity of Community Calls. The Program Assistant will join in shepherding the relationships with existing partners as well as serving as an integral part of growing the coalition with new partners. They will be a key voice in amplifying the programming of our partners and ensuring smooth activation of discrete programs of Community Calls. And, the Program Assistant will provide logistical, marketing, and administrative support to all aspects of this growing Community Calls enterprise in partnership with the Founder/Director. This position will also benefit from being a member of the larger Kaplen JCC staff team and is designed to be full-time and in-person with time split between the Kaplen JCC and in the field at meetings, events (at times in the evening and Sundays), and community gatherings as scheduled. Part-time, or adjusted schedule, options exist.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Partner: Operate as thought, planning, strategic and implementing partner with the founder/director of Community Calls.
- Liaison: Serve as liaison with point person of coalition agencies with key responsibilities of understanding the needs and priorities of each partner.
- Communication: Serve as the first point of contact for program participants, media, talent, and community.
- Website and social media: Lead and maintain the program's website and all social media accounts.
- Planning: Create and update program and meeting logistics.
- Record keeping: Maintain financial records including processing financial payments and oversee reporting. Collect/report program participation data.
- Research and reporting: Provide background material for meetings and programs, prepare presentations and publications, and collect and process data for program evaluation.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with laws, policies, grants, and regulations.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related HR software required.
- Experience with Word Press and Canva preferred.
- College graduate or equivalent work experience required.
