Position Overview

The Jewish Fertility Foundation (JFF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting hopeful parents by providing financial assistance, emotional support, and infertility education to those struggling to build their families. We’re currently seeking a resourceful, proactive, and organized professional to lead and grow JFF in Maryland, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia.

This is a full-time/40 hours week position (with flexible hours) and pays a salary of $65,000 -  $70,000 (based on experience) + PTO for Parental Leave + Federal holidays/major Jewish holidays off/vacation time + 403b, + $3,000 annual health insurance stipend + an annual professional development stipend. 

 Key Responsibilities: 

  • Emotional Support: Collaborate with local and national mental health providers to create and manage JFF-GREATER DC’s support offerings, including community-based support groups (virtual or in-person) and our Fertility Buddies program. Engage with community members in your primary location to ensure their needs are met. Work with constituents in your targeted service communities to provide emotional support virtually through regional or national groups. 
  • Educational Awareness and Training: Develop educational programs for JFF-GREATER DC, including training for clergy and fertility clinics to better support congregants and clients. Partner with the JFF-National Program Director to involve your communities in national educational programming. Plan virtual trainings with partner clinics and clergy members in the targeted service communities
  • Community Events: Plan and execute JFF-GREATER DC events each year in collaboration with the Managing Director of Programs, such as fertility education, Shabbat dinners, Jewish holiday celebrations, and infertility meetups. Establish and manage a local budget for executing and marketing these events.. 
  • Community Liaison: Represent JFF at GREATER DC area events, working closely with community volunteers and partner organizations. Identify potential donors or fundraisers and connect them with our Director of Development.
  • Database Management: Maintain accurate records of JFF-GREATER DC participants, including grant recipients and attendees at support groups and events.
  • Marketing/Advertising: Develop and implement strategies to recruit new clients and promote JFF programs through engaging newsletters, emails, and ads in local Jewish and secular publications. Share press releases about JFF’s mission and programs to local Jewish and non-secular websites, newspapers, social media, partner organizations, etc.
  • Social Media: Share posts about JFF events and news across various social media platforms, including relevant Facebook groups.
  • Crowdfunding: Collaborate with the Director of Development on JFF’s annual 36-hour crowdfunding campaign, helping to raise funds for the organization.
  • Administrative Tasks & Special Projects: Support the Development Director with grant applications and assist in executing special projects.

 Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Empathy: We seek someone mature, sensitive, and empathetic towards the infertility community. 
  • Resourcefulness: A self-starter with enthusiasm, drive, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Must be proactive and capable of taking initiative.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating a passion for community organizing and building.
  • Event Planning Experience: Proven experience planning and coordinating community events, including creating timelines, marketing plans, and executing event logistics.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with a variety of stakeholders, including clients, clergy, doctors, therapists, and donors.
  • Technology Proficiency: Comfortable with learning and managing our database (Bloomerang) and adept at using social media platforms. Experience with Canva is a plus.
  • Community Leadership: Familiarity with the local Jewish community landscape and a strong understanding of JFF’s target audience is essential.
  • Emotional Intelligence: Strong ability to read situations, empathize, communicate effectively, and respond appropriately. Self-awareness and relationship management skills are a must.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required in a related field. A deep understanding of our mission is highly valued. 
  • Location: Candidates must reside within the region and be available to work at JFF programs, including some weeknight evenings and weekends.
  • Travel: Candidates may need to travel to targeted service communities once per year, and should plan to attend the yearly JFF Staff Retreat.
