Temple Beth Am, a small reform congregation in Morris Plains, NJ (Morris County, convenient to routes 10, 80 & 287) is seeking an experienced, creative and dynamic part-time Education Director who will be involved in all aspects of educational programming at the synagogue and has specific responsibility for directing our religious school from Kindergarten through 10th Grade. Main days of on premise attendance would include Sunday mornings, one Friday a month, Jewish Holidays, and possibly one other week night to be determined as needed.
Our school is known for its strong curriculum, excellent teachers, flexible program that includes special needs classes, and a nurturing, non-competitive environment.
The Education Director should be caring, personable, creative and energetic. He/she should exhibit a love of Judaism and a commitment to Jewish living and learning.
Strong administrative, supervisory and communication skills are critical.
The Director of Education works closely with our Clergy, Leadership and Education Committees. He/she should be a team player who enjoys the collaborative process.
The Education Director will have an opportunity to recruit teachers, shape our current formal education curriculum and to provide leadership for connecting the Hebrew School to other synagogue programs and religious services.
The Education Director will ensure that our children have a rich, Jewish educational experience derived from an inspiring setting with innovative classroom techniques designed to maximize potential and maintain engagement in learning.
The Education Director will help develop family related programming.
