Role Overview

Are you passionate about building community, empowering others, and making a lasting impact? The Operations Director (OD) is a key leader at Hillel at Davis and Sacramento, working closely with the Executive Director (ED) to enhance Hillel’s programs, budget management, and overall administration. In this role, you’ll help shape a vibrant Jewish student experience by leading a dynamic team, developing strategic initiatives, and ensuring that Hillel remains a welcoming, inclusive, and pluralistic community. What You’ll Do

  • Develop and facilitate student programs in collaboration with programming staff, ensuring alignment with Hillel’s mission and goals.
  • Oversee key events, including Tuesday Brunch and Shabbat Dinner, and coordinate logistics with staff and the head chef.
  • Manage procurement, weekly program shopping, and security arrangements for large events.
  • Identify grant opportunities, assist in grant reporting, and maintain strong relationships with funders.
  • Supervise key staff, including the Office Administrator (OA) and Head Chef, and support overall human resources management, including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance reviews.
  • Ensure smooth administrative operations, including payroll, timesheets, compliance with labor laws, and coordination with financial professionals.
  • Oversee budget management, including QuickBooks, expense tracking, and financial planning with the ED and bookkeeper.
  • Manage the Israel Fellow’s housing, vehicle, and phone, and oversee staff expense reimbursements and accounts payable.
  • Serve as the primary contact for Hillel’s database, Little Green Light, and train staff on its management.
  • Supervise office administration, vendor relations, and technology systems, including building security, equipment maintenance, and insurance policies.

  • Knowledge of QuickBooks and financial management.
