The Hadar Institute is honored to announce that the J.J. Greenberg Institute for the Advancement of Jewish Life (JJGI) will join with Hadar. Led by Rabbi Irving (“Yitz”) Greenberg, JJGI will continue to develop the postmodern narrative of Jewish life and approach to Jewish law and we are confident that Rabbi Greenberg’s bold and creative ideas will continue to enrich religious and secular ways of living and contribute to critical communal conversations about the meaning(s) and purpose(s) of Jewish life.

Hadar seeks a Director of Communications for both JJGI and Hadar more broadly. The Director will create and implement a comprehensive communications strategy for the organization. This position will play a key role in positioning Hadar’s materials, classes, podcasts, content, online advertising (including social media), and more in an effort to draw a wider audience and broaden all distribution channels for Hadar, with particular emphasis on JJGI. The communications strategy will aim to distribute all content to the widest and most appropriate audience as efficiently as possible.

We seek an experienced communications professional, with a sophisticated, collaborative, and creative approach. The Director of Communications will manage Hadar’s Digital Communications Associate and work closely with the content, engagement, program, and development teams.

-Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategy across brands, platforms and properties
-Develop content marketing strategy, with emphasis on the work of the JJGI, overseeing distribution and marketing of all published materials- print and digital
-Create comprehensive strategy that will integrate and market all of Hadar’s multiple websites, including:,, http://xxxxxxxxxxxxx,,
-Manage communications team and communications budget
-Oversee brand management, including web marketing and production of brochures, merchandise and collateral
-Set strategy and manage photography and videography needs
-Manage external media outlets including, but not limited to cultivating relationships with journalists and drafting press releases
-Implement data analysis across platforms to drive decision making
-Serve as administrator of Hadar’s google domain

Qualifications / Skills:
-Understanding of and enthusiasm for the mission and vision of JJGI and Hadar
-Proven track record of establishing and implementing branding, communication and marketing campaign strategies with measurable results ---Strong writing/editing and verbal communication skills with an eye toward detail
-A strong track record as a project manager who thrives on managing a variety of initiatives concurrently
-Ability to utilize data management systems effectively including but not limited to Salesforce, Hubspot, Google Analytics, and Qloudstat
-Proficiency in data analysis to drive decision making
-Experience with media outreach, working with a range of media platforms and outlets a plus
-Familiarity with the Jewish community a plus
-Familiarity with Hebrew language a plus

This is a full-time position based out of New York City. Competitive salary and benefits package starting at $100,000.
