Two Conservative synagogues in Harrisburg, PA are working together to find one inspired - and inspiring - Director of Lifelong Learning and our Gesher Religious School.
Chisuk Emuna Congregation and Beth El Temple together number over 550 families. We have experienced much success in the past five years in creating and implementing the preliminary bridges for a strong educational program, and are excited to continue to move this thriving initiative forward .
Our Gesher religious school is fortunate to have wonderful teachers, dedicated parents, eager students and supportive professionals and lay leaders.
We are seeking a Gesher Director of Lifelong Learning and the Gesher School to inspire Jewish learning and growth of all students – children and adults, alike.
The Director of Lifelong Learning works in partnership with the Rabbis, Executive Director and the Gesher Education Committee. The Director reports to the Rabbis of Beth El and Chisuk Emuna and is responsible to the Chisuk Emuna and Beth El Board of Directors.
The ideal candidate is:
A friendly, welcoming, dynamic, creative and engaging Jewish educator with a deep passion for and commitment to the core values of the Conservative movement.
Someone with an overall vision for adult and children’s Jewish education for today’s Jewish world.
Someone with teaching and administrative experience with students in a supplementary Jewish education program.
Someone with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Proficient with, and curious about, technology as it relates to Jewish education.
A collaborator who values being an essential part of a team.
Directing and administering the Gesher Educational Initiative (K- 7th grade education) and a dynamic Lifelong Learning program.
Hiring and managing both adult and college-aged teachers.
Curriculum development and ongoing management.
Creating and facilitating the development of relevant and energized programming for family and adult education, working with lay and Rabbinic leadership from both congregations. These initiatives may include Jewish learning series, joint Shabbatot as well as holiday and festival programming.
We consider inclusion work experience and curriculum planning a plus.
Hours: 20-25hours/week, including Gesher Religious School which meets on Sunday mornings, Wednesday afternoons and some Shabbatot.
Salary range: $40,000-$50,000
