JOB TITLE: Director of Leadership and Talent Development
REPORTS TO: Senior VP of Marketing & Leadership Development

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION: Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta is expanding our focus on leadership and talent development. The Director of Leadership and Talent Development will help to envision and implement a series of programs and offerings that foster growth for both professionals and volunteers, both at Federation and throughout Jewish Atlanta. They will focus on relationship building to understand various development needs, and create systems that enable us to move people along appropriate development paths. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Bring a deeper and more integrated level of leadership development resources to metro Atlanta
o Establish relationships both nationally and locally with Jewish community talent networks
o Launch local Jewish professionals’ group (JPro) and manage steering committee, including fostering community-wide professional
development and networking opportunities
• Establish and nurture relationships with community organizations to effectively operate within the broader Jewish Atlanta ecosystem
• Work closely with Human Resources Director to plan professional development sessions and curriculum for the Federation team
• Thought work in culture, inclusion and other special areas of focus as identified by executive leadership/supervisor, with particular view toward associated professional development needs
• Assist in planning Federation annual professional retreat
• Design a system and process for tracking and mapping volunteer journeys
o Learn and capture volunteer interests to ensure a strong pipeline of talent
o Create a process to match volunteer interests with organization needs across the ecosystem
o Develop and maintain database of current and high potential Jewish community lay leaders across the ecosystem to help facilitate
movement across organizations
o Map current offerings along a continuum of leadership opportunities
• Develop and implement existing key leadership programs including OnBoard and Jacobson Leadership Institute
o Identify the need for any specific new programs to fill gaps
• Partner with the Philanthropy team to serve as a link between Federation and various leadership cohorts
• Create Leadership Development curriculum that can be used at different levels of leadership to improve the knowledge and skillset of community volunteer leaders, leading to more effective governance and better lay experiences, as well as a larger pipeline of prepared and deeply committed leaders to serve in key positions throughout the community (ex: Federation 101 orientation, leadership development for committee chairs, leadership development for committee members)
• Manage and implement annual community awards program to recognize volunteers
• Manage the Governance Committee, including board exit interviews, committee charters, nominating committee and new board member orientation
• Implement two annual Community Advisory Council meetings, including planning content and all logistics with supervisor

• Bachelor’s degree and 5 to 8 years of relevant professional experience, including program management, program development, and people management. Equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered
• Knowledge of trends in leadership and talent development
• Experience working with nonprofit organizations and volunteer engagement
• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to cultivate, build, and maintain strong relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Driven, self-starter, resourceful and able to work with minimal direction
• Team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow
• Knowledge of Jewish community a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Intermittent standing and walking with prolonged periods of sitting at desk or in meetings.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Position requires ability to organize, prioritize, manage and complete multiple, often-competing projects; delegate responsibilities; and oversee the completion of multiple and varied projects and programs on differing timelines.
