Early Childhood Center Director

Temple Beth Sholom, a thriving, dynamic, egalitarian, Conservative Jewish community of more than 650 households in Roslyn Heights, New York, seeks a warm, dynamic and experienced administrator to serve as its Early Childhood Center Director beginning August 1, 2020.

The Early Childhood Center Director is responsible for day-to-day operations, staff and budget management and quality programming. Director works in collaboration with the Board of Education, Clergy and Executive Director.

Qualifications and Job Requirements
Must meet New York State Director Certification of Requirement
Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education/related filed preferred
5 years experience in preschool environment
Knowledge of Jewish traditions, values and practices
Excellent interpersonal skills. Must have ability to create and maintain positive partnerships with families an staff
Excellent leadership skills, including vision to strengthen and expand existing programs
Strong managerial and organizational skills, including ability to support teamwork and staff morale, and collaborate with other synagogue staff
Computer literacy including Constant Contact, Excel, Word, digital photography

Responsibilities: include but are not limited to the following:
Assure compliance with state licensing regulations
Develop and maintain annual budget
Set tuition rates with approval from Board of Education/Budget and Finance
Oversee registration process
Plan yearly calendar and coordinate events with other synagogue programs
Participate in training conforming to NYS OCFS regulations
Attend High Holiday Services and supplemental programs for preschool children and families
Supervise and assist staff in designing a developmentally appropriate curriculum and enhancing Jewish programming
Review student's development with teachers
Cultivate and maintain solid parent partnerships through open door, responsive, proactive communication
Recruit, hire and train new teachers, substitute teachers and support staff
Manage, evaluate and mentor staff. Plan and implement staff orientation and regularly scheduled monthly staff meetings
Be "the face" of the preschool/synagogue by representing Jewish values
Work constructively with Director of Religious School to create a bridge fostering enrollment beyond preschool
