Hebrew Congregation of Somers (HCS) is a warm, inspired and welcoming Reconstructionist congregation that encourages a spirit of joy, music and creativity to help bring more light and more justice to the world.
Our Hebrew School is a place where families are embraced and children feel at home. Our Rabbi, Hebrew School Director, and teachers are collaborators, constantly and creatively searching for ways to reach every child with a living, breathing approach to Jewish life and learning.
Who you are :
An enthusiastic visionary who is interested in determining the future direction of the Hebrew school in keeping with our existing values and enhancing our current program.
Background and experience in Jewish Education and Jewish life.
Working knowledge of prayerbook Hebrew and traditions.
Creative, organized and committed to engaging families and supporting an inclusive & welcoming community. Experience working with children with diverse learning needs.
Ongoing commitment to lifelong learning.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities Include (but is not limited to):
Work part-time hours for the 2024-2025 school year. Hebrew School is held Sunday mornings and Tuesday afterschool.
Collaborate with Rabbi on program development.
Build and implement curriculum aligned for Grades K-8 and plan special holiday programs and events for Hebrew School families. Teaching responsibilities.
Recruit, schedule, supervise and support teaching staff.
Build community through frequent and ongoing communication with families
Compensation : Salary up to $35,000 commensurate with experience.
