Elementary School Teacher

Reports to: Elementary School Director

FLSA: Full-time

Elementary School Teacher Job Posting

The person selected for this position will be responsible for the general supervision and management of a class of children between the ages of five and eleven. This person must be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults.

The person selected for this position must be professionally prepared as a teacher of young children and meet the requirements of the school; multiple-subject teaching credential preferred.

Job Responsibilities

These include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Planning, documenting, supervising, and implementing the program for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the school.
  • Planning differentiated lessons using best teaching practices and strategies to support diverse learners' styles of learning and interests.
  • Designing and implementing meaningful lessons and inquiry-based projects that allow students to apply knowledge and skills in authentic contexts, promoting deeper understanding and long-term retention of content. 
  • Creating a supportive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where students feel valued, respected, and encouraged to take risks.
  • Providing staff support (working as a team) to all programs and staff when necessary. 
  • Evaluating student performance using a variety of assessment tools and strategies to assess the developmental and academic needs of all students.
  • Supervising children on the playground, in classrooms, and on field trips.
  • Collaborating with administration on student health, safety, or other concerns. 
  • Coordinating field trips and other enrichment opportunities for your classrooms.
  • Attending all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences.
  • Conducting parent conferences.
  • Participate in recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth.
  • Participate in recruitment events and other school-sponsored programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • College degree and current multiple subject teaching credential (preferred)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Elementary experience preferred.
  • Empathetic to the needs and differing dynamics of families who attend the school.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship-building skills; team-oriented.
  • Flexibility approach toward supporting colleagues as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills; self-motivated and responsible.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, professionalism, and dedication to the mission of Ilan Ramon Day School.
  • Participation in professional development and an interest in further developing individual and school-wide goals.

Salary Range: $50,000 - $65,000
