Associate Executive Director

Temple Israel, a 1500 member Reform Congregation, is a sanctuary for prayer and inspiration, a vibrant center for Jewish learning, and a congregational home for living Torah. We are a source of strength and a force for good for Reform Jews, the greater community, and the world.

We are seeking a full-time Associate Executive Director who will be responsible for operational oversight across development, membership and communication. They will collaborate with the Executive Director (E.D.) in the implementation of a plan to actualize the organization's objectives in these areas. The Associate E.D. will work directly under the E.D. to complete executive-level tasks or plans; working together to make significant organizational decisions, develop and direct an organizational strategy, and partner with lay leadership in developing the organizational culture.

Job Responsibilities:

Development and Fundraising: 

  • Work closely with the finance team and ED to develop and manage the synagogue's annual revenue budget.
  • Lead our fundraising efforts by developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy that secures financial support through philanthropic giving, grant funding, and sponsorships.
  • Cultivate relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporate partners to secure significant gifts and sponsorships that align with our mission and values.
  • Drive the planning and execution of creative and impactful fundraising events and campaigns, leveraging data-driven insights to optimize results.
  • Manage stewardship processes to create positive experiences for our donors, forging stronger connections and inspiring their continued support.
  • Work to secure Legacy Gifts
  • Plan and execute programming targeted at donors and legacy society members

Communications: 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy to effectively engage with current and potential members.
  • Oversee Communications staff to manage communication channels, including website, social media, print, and email campaigns.
  • Collaborate with relevant staff and vendors to develop and curate compelling content for print, social media, email campaigns, and other communication channels.

Membership and Engagement: 

  • Develop strategies to attract new members and enhance membership experience.
  • Provide avenues for increased engagement and future leadership by identifying and empowering lay leaders within our community.
  • Set metrics of success for new members and member retention
